Disability Income Protection
The ability to earn money is one of the most significant assets to your employees. Having a plan in place to replace lost wages in the event of a disability is a mark of sound financial planning as it protects families from financial disasters.
Income protection insurance, also known as disability income insurance, provides your covered employees with replacement income should they become disabled and unable to work due to an injury or illness. Both short- and long-term disability options are available.
Short Term Disability
The ICSO H&W Plan provides solutions to meet the needs of employers who wish to fund their own short-term disability programs, commonly referred to as Self-Insured or Advice-to-Pay (ATP). A self-insured or ATP plan is an arrangement in which the ICSO H&W disability insurer advises the employer on an employee’s eligibility for disability pay, as well as the duration of the payable benefit period. The employer sets the benefit levels and continues to pay the employee through standard payroll. This program provides the employer with the experience and expertise of qualified benefit specialists reviewing each claim and making coverage determinations, reducing the employer’s liability.
Long Term Disability
For employees who endure a serious injury or illness and are unable to work for an extended period of time or beyond short-term disability, long term disability provides employees with a percentage of their regular wages. Long-term disability policies are available as a stand-along option or can combined with our ATP short-term disability program.
